PACU

There are two certifications available for qualified registered nurses caring for patients who have received anesthesia, had surgery, or a procedure requiring sedation and analgesia, depending upon the nursing specialty area the participant works in.

This program will prepare RN participants to take either the Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse examination (CPAN) or the Certified Ambulatory Peri-anesthesia Nurse examination (CAPA). During this program, participants will be presented with information that will facilitate an opportunity to understand the differences in the (CAPA or CPAN) examinations, what the similarities are, and what domains to focus on for either / both certification(s). This course will review current standards of practice which can be applied to either certification.
