Neuroscience Nurse

This course is for nurses who currently practice in the neuroscience specialty area and want to expand their knowledge in order to prepare for and take the CNRN certification test.

​This program also provides nurses working in this specialty area with current information to incorporate into their daily practice. The purpose of this activity is to enable the learner to:  
  • Discuss the overview of neuroscience nursing certification and discuss test taking strategies.  
  • Identify the Basic Physiological and Complex Physiological impact on the patient with a neuro deficit.  
  • Describe the various types of traumatic brain injuries and nursing interventions.
  • Discuss selected types of brain and spinal cord tumors and nursing interventions.  
  • List various forms of cerebrovascular accidents and the nursing implications.  Identify the signs of a neurological emergency and nursing implications.
  • Review the nursing implications when caring for patients with selected spinal cord conditions.  
  • Discuss the nursing implication when caring for patients with chronic neurological conditions.  
  • Describe selected Pediatric and Developmental Deformities and nursing implications.  
  • Identify selected immune disorders related to the patient with a neurological deficit.  
  • Discuss the identification and nursing management of selected seizure disorders.  
  • Identify the key presenting symptoms of identified chronic neurological disorders and the nurse’s role.  
  • Apply knowledge learned and practice test taking skills by completing post-test.
