Heart FailureOne in five Americans will develop heart failure in their lifetime. Heart failure is the leading cause of hospital admissions in adults over the age of 65 in the U.S. Nurses employed in all specialty practice areas, and in all practice settings, from emergent care, to acute care, to chronic outpatient settings, need to be competent in dealing with patients presenting with the signs and symptoms of heart failure. Due to its prevalence, managing patients in heart failure has developed into a distinct specialty in nursing practice.
This course prepares nurses to competently care for patients with heart failure. Nurses will become versed in best practices within the context of the onset, maintenance, and progression of the disease. Nurses will be prepared to take the certification examination in heart failure. |
