This program will prepare RN participants to take either the Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse examination (CPAN) or the Certified Ambulatory Peri-anesthesia Nurse examination (CAPA). During this program, participants will be presented with information that will facilitate an opportunity to understand the differences in the (CAPA or CPAN) examinations, what the similarities are, and what domains to focus on for either / both certification(s). This course will review current standards of practice which can be applied to either certification.

This comprehensive, workshop is the key to success for registered nurses who are planning to take the ANCC Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing Certification Examination. This course coincides with the blueprint for the examination as specified by the administering agency, providing core concentration on those areas identified.
The Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing Certification exam is a computer-based test and offered throughout the year. A test site can be established online at www.nursecredentialing.org.
Upon successful completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Identify principles of professional nursing practice in psychiatric mental health nursing.
- Describe concepts that deliver the foundations for Psychiatric-Mental Health nursing practice.
- Discuss diagnostic criteria and assessment tools utilized to differentiate Psychiatric Mental Health disorders across the lifespan.
- Recognize therapeutic interventions and treatment modalities in psychiatric mental health nursing.
- Be familiar with special populations at risk for developing psychiatric-mental health complications.
